FinalStraw
If you’re someone who flies or drives frequently, you’re probably wondering what you can start doing to offset your carbon footprint. Well, it’s best to start small before making any dramatic lifestyle changes (travel is already expensive on its own, so don’t immediately splurge on a tiny home and fake meat). So, today, I want to lift FinalStrawm up a product that I’m already planning to order once the first batch is released.
I have sensitive teeth, so I like using straws for everything I drink, and I know I’m not the only one. Straws are one of the biggest contributors to plastic waste in the world–to the point the UK has banned them along with other single-use plastic items. Straws can’t be recycled, so they end up in landfills–or roadsides–where they stay because it can take up to a thousand years to decompose. Or, they can end up in the ocean where they can contribute to the deaths of marine life.
Then, I saw a video for FinalStraw, the world’s first collapsible, reusable straw. I’m so excited for this product to hit markets because I do eat out a lot (more than I should), and I have quite a few road trips coming in the future. I know there are a lot of travelers in my position, and FinalStraw is a great tool to help us start reducing the amount of waste we produce as we travel. It’s one more awesome sustainable swap out to put in your suitcase.
